Finally got a second trip in this year. It's been dismal down in S. ME. Drove up to Aroostook County again. We drove 328 miles from my home. We didn't see any snow on the ground for the first 200 miles. Unreal.

Stayed in a little house in Ft. Kent.

Rode pretty much across everything that was a groomed trail and some that weren't and some that should never be called "groomed".

Tuesday we arrived around noon and rode from Ft. Kent (FK) out ITS 92 west to the Lincoln Trail. That tied us into ITS 82 south to Eagle Lake. Then we took 85D in a loop to Allagash and ITS 92E back to FK. 125 miles.

Wednesday we decided to head out to the west of FK again on ITS92 to Dickey. It was first tracks of the day for us on the railbeds immediately east of town. Our destination this day was to be the northernmost outpost of Maine, Escourt Station.

Unmarked helicopters flying the border!

Thursday we went for the whole enchilada, riding to Soldier Pond, Eagle Lake, Portage, Van Buren and back to FK. 201 miles

Friday we did FK to the powerline trail 83S, to Van Buren on the RR bed (105) to Grand Isle for lunch, over to Long Lake. We rode the lake for a while then got off in Sinclair, to St. Agatha and back to FK. 156 miles.

Saturday we decided we needed to hit ITS 90 again because it was such a nice trail so we went down to Portage via 85E, 73B, 83S, 105S, and 90 to Portage. Rode around Portage Lake then went to Eagle Lake back to Long lake, St. Agatha and returned to FK. On Eagle Lake I got to pace a pickup truck running the length of the lake. My speedo said over 95, the GPS said 89.3 mph and the truck was just pulling away from me. 178 miles

Sunday, the trip was over, but we needed to get one more short ride in. We went out to Long Lake again and then returned via the fields. It was in the single digits and the wind was well over 45 mph. Wind chill must have been like -80F. Wicked. 48 miles.

Ribbon like this, it just doesn't get any better.

On Long Lake in St. Agatha. Cold wind on Sunday Morning.
