Spent six days riding The County. They had a 30+ inch storm there about one week before we went up there. Here's a map of the ride's we took on Monday and Tuesday.
Thursday morning we drove up to Houlton, ME in a snowstorm. Lots of accidents on the highway.
Once things cleared out we were able to giterdone.
We got to Houlton around noon and went for a shakedown ride up to Mars Hill and back. About 60 miles roundtrip. All railroad beds.
Spent the night in Houlton. It snowed about 3-inches that night.
Got up in the morning and rode to Ft. Kent, ME. 158 miles. It was all railbeds for the first couple of hours. Then trails and powerlines. Lots of snow and great riding.
In Presque Isle, ITS 83 detoured around the airport and we had to cross a live rail road track.
Presque Isle bridge.
Found quite a few cars and trucks parked along the way. I don't have a picture of it, but we found a minivan out in the middle of a potatoe field.
So, Saturday we rode east from Ft. Kent and ended up at Long Lake for lunch.
There we met up with a guy from work who has a house up there and he showed us the fast way around The County. Way fast.
Sunday, we opted to not ride with Mr. Speed and we made our way to the far east side of the state via Connector Trail 73D out of Ft. Kent, ITS 83 south to Caribou, connector trail 89 east to Limestone, north on ITS 81 the border trail, to Van Buren, up to Madawaska ITS 85, and back to Ft. Kent, roughly 158 miles.
On ITS 81, the border trail, you actually cruise along the U.S./New Brunswick International Border. It's got great views and topography. As you can see, it was groomed.
Lots of fields to play in.
Van Buren trails were awesome, 10/10. Twenty feet of ribbon, staked and fast.
An Aroostook barn.
Powerline trail to Madawaska.
We had so much fun on that ride that we decided to reverse run it on Monday.
Tuesday we had to leave and we rode back to the truck in Houlton.

Sights along the way.
This one's for 666snowgo. It's a dead cat we found left lying on the side of the trail.
Man the groomers did a great job all week and we really appreciated it.
Here's to more safe trips in The County.
