I've been hanging around this website since I found it a couple of years back. The guy's who make it happen Polaris-Man and erick have done a great job at maintaining an open forum without the BS you have to deal with at other sites. While I'm probably on the older end of the age-scale for this site, I've been amazed at the technical expertise of many of the members.
I've been sledding since about 1985, but I never owned my own sled till 2000. That year, I picked up two sleds and a trailer from a local guy who wanted to get a new pickup more than he wanted to sled. Anyway, those sleds were a 1999 Indy 500 and a 2000 600XC Deluxe 45th Anniversary Edition.
I learned a lot of mechanical details from those 2 sleds. I did most of my learning on the 600 as that was the sled I rode the most often. I love to do my own wrenching, so it was just a natural progression to upgrade the sleds. Both sleds got studs, but the 600 got C&A Pro Skis, handlebar hooks, Isovibe riser, Holtzman Tempaflow, SLP clutch kit, and RydeFX shocks. I'm fastidious about maintenance and my sleds look like they are new and have never left me stranded.
After riding these sleds for 4 years, I figured out what I really wanted out of a sled. I wanted a longer tracked sled that was lighter and easier on my back. So after getting the 600 XC just the way I liked it, I traded it this year for a new 2005 Ski-Doo Renegade 600 SDI.
I didn't like all the stickers on it so I took most of them off.
Other than that it's stock. After riding the icy trails yesterday, I'm going to have to stud it eventually.
Now there hasn't been diddly for snow this year but I did get a couple miles on it 12/30/04.
