The New Improved XLT for '08
Guestbook
So, for the 2008 season I decided to upgrade the XLT.
One of the first things I did was a custom paint job on the trailing arms. They are now Cherry Red and have some HMK and Team Hard logos on them. They turned out nice.
Next, I took the old 121 track and suspension off and put on the new longtrack I got. It is now a 136 with a 1.5"lug camoplast track. I still have the Xtra-12 suspension on it, with brand new rails.
Next, I put on a tunnel extension and a custom made taillight with both brake lights and running light. I had to make the custom lights because last season I broke the lense and the lights burnt out, I also stripped out the screw holes to mount the lense plate in. The new lights are all-weather LED's. They will be better in the long run anyway because they are brighter and use less power to operate.
Finally, I installed a new set of handlebars. I was able to get a steal of a deal on these new bars. So, I got some TAG 2 metal handlebars and a 4 inch riser block. I put on brake and throttle extensions. I also put on hand warmers on the bars with new grips. I was able to make everything look great. I even got my electric helmet wire ran on the bars as well. Another thing I got for my handlebars is a pod to mount my camera on. This will allow me to film as I ride, A nice 10meg pix camera with a good warranty, I can get about 2hrs worth of video on it so I should be set.
Oh, I almost forgot. I also installed a GPS mount. I have this on the dash beside my gauge pod. It fits great just behind the windshield so it stays out of the elements to a extent. I am going to install a DC plug in for it as well, but it also runs off batteries.
